The cruiser-racer boats are a combination of cruising sail boats, slower and heavier, and regatta boats which are lighter and faster. They are specially designed for those who want a high-performance boat which also offers stability and which have a spacious and comfortable interior for long distance navigations. These boats can have two or three cabins. They may have a length of between 35 to 50 feet, which makes them comfortable enough to spend a few days on board but are not too big like the regatta boats or cruisers. In this type of boat, the priorities have to coexist in a relatively small space: for example it is important that they have enough room to move on the bridge space, but they don't have to offer all the amenities of a cruiser, such as a bimini cover, tables in the cockpit, or other elements that may interfere with its manoeuvrability. The racer-cruiser offers fast, complex navigation, but may sometimes sacrifice a bit of speed to ensure a longer life of the sails and better manoeuvrability.
