Anti-fraud advice

Be suspicious of bargains.

Check the current market price and be suspicious if the asking price is much lower. Bargains are not very common. Also be careful if the buyer offers to pay more than your asking price.

Visit the boat

Personally check the state of the boat. If in doubt, consult with experts to evaluate the boat on your behalf.

Only use secure forms of payment

Never send money by Western Union, Moneygram or alike. There is no way of recuperating this type of payment. Be very careful with cheques, make sure they can be covered.

Rushing a decision is not advised.

Be suspicious of buyers and sellers who are in a rush to close the deal and make the transaction. Often, con artists say they are in a hurry to justify unusual procedures.

Review all the documentation.

Check the details of the interested person (land line telephone number, address, National Identification Number) and the documentation of the boat or mooring.

Be careful with your information

Never send personal information such as credit card or account numbers by email. Also, don't enter banks through email links.
