Observations

There is a surprisingly large yacht basin located in this long-established town and a quarter of the berths are reserved for transient yachts. There is also an anchorage outside the port entrance. The yacht club at Hospitalet is somewhat remote, though there are some commercial premises quayside. Charts may be purchased at the Club office. Hospitalet is one of the few harbours on this part of the coast that has space all year round. The beaches in the area are attractive, and the port of Hospitalet offers good protection. The village derives its name from a 'hospital or refuge that was constructed in the 14th Century, with funds from Blanca D'Anjou, wife of King Jaime, for travellers attempting to cross the mountain pass known as "Coll de Balaguer".
