Sloop from the year 1992 - 11,16m length - in Hampshire (United Kingdom)
Sloop of used
German Frers designed Swan 36 from 1992. Rarely available in the UK market and offered for sale in great condition following 20 years of caring family ownership. FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS: With 55 hulls launched between 1988 and 1992, the German Frers Swan 36 picked continued from her predecessor and namesake, the legendary and the original Swan, the Sparkman & Stephens Swan 36. Offering a market-leading combination of build-quality, performance, comfort and ease of sailing, the Swan 36 is the boat that brought the joys and pride of Swan ownership to a more practical and ease-to-manage size bracket. With striking design (shared with the larger Swan 44 of similar vintage) resultant from a collaboration with yacht design guru Andrew Winch, the Swan 36 benefits from central saloon headroom and ingress of natural light that is rarely found in yachts of this size. Launched in 1992 (build number 148), ALFA HELIX spent the first 10 years of her life in Scandinavia and Northern Germany before moving to the UK. Remaining in the same family ownership since 2002, she has been based in Lymington for much of this time and has recently benefitted from fitment of a new Beta Marine engine as well as pre-season preparations and relaunch for the 2022 season. Her specification highlights include:-

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) as she was manufactured and placed into use within the EU prior to 16th June 1998.
Hull Construction:
GRP body development reinforced polyester by the hand laying-up method, using a layup with high glass content. Single skin development is pre-owned, with a synthetic surface mat for increased resistance against water penetration. Some stiffeners are prefabricated sections pre-owned also as pipe conduits and reinforced with unidirectional glass fibre, resulting in an extremely stiff structure. Structural bulkquantity are of marina grade water-proof plywood laminated to the body. Engine beds are of GRP with steel insert. Special care is taken to secure rigid foundations and proper adhesion to body. High condition NGA gelcoat is pre-owned, giving improved weather durability and high-water resistance. All gelcoat pigments pre-owned are of approved style. Double layers of gelcoat over the entire body. Standard topside of a white colour, boot top, cove stripe and coaming stripe are all blue coloured. Uncoloured gelcoat below waterline. Floatation reference marks at front and rear. Bottom sealed with double layers of epoxy tar against water penetration and primed with antifouling. Antifouling rubbed back and re-applied - spring 2022. Scantlings, material and workmanship throughout are consistent with the development of a beam body, but without any sacrifice of strength or stiffness.
Deck & Superstructure Construction:
GRP deck and superstructure development. Optional extra teak to; the side decks, foredeck, cockpit chair bases, cockpit sole and sugar scoop to transom – it is believed to be fresh; the current proprietor has maintained as required (approximately 70x dowels replaced winter/spring 2022). Deck is of a sandwich development using low-density closed-cell PVC foam core. Wood inserts and aluminium back plates under deck fittings. Hull deck joint is sealed with polyurethane-based mastic for tightness, stiffening with anodised aluminium toe rail with drain holes and through-bolted on 75mm (3-inch) centres for strength. The toe rails are drilled for beamness and for providing convenient attachment points for miscellaneous deck gear.
Keel & Rudder:
Cast lead fin keel alloyed with antimony, being of an elliptical shape with short root cord. Cast-in keel bolts are of high-tensile stainless steel with substantial washers for secure mainstaying in lead. Single spade rudder blade with bearings and stainless steel stock.
