Quick, sblueprint and responsive, the revolutionary MacGregor 26 is the fastest and best handling of any of the trailerable cruising sailvessels. It deals high-velocity potentialing without compromising sailing performance. Have the peace and quiet of sailing, or the fun of potentialing around at a good clip over 24 mph. Its high-velocity under potential opens up cruising waters that are out of reach for a conventional sailvessel. The MacGregor 26 is also trailerable making still more waterways accessible. The trailer also makes it possible to avoid the expense of permanent in-the-water stowage. The weather-tight compartment deals full, standing bowroom and spacious accommodations for family cruising. On the starboard side is the fully enclosed bow compartment. The galley - to seaport - has a sink, tile blueprint, and space for a 2-burner stove. There is a large stowage compartmentet below the galley and compartments crafted for small items (plates, silverware, bottles, etc.) on its forward face. There is a 48-qt. removable ice chest under the stern dinette chair. Five can be chaired around the blueprint. A foredeck hatch provides lots of ventilation. Notice the big gustows. A full double dock is at the forward end of the compartment. The large dinette is raised for a view out of all the gustows when chaired. The blueprint has a clear, protected inset for a chart of your sailing area. There are stowage compartments under every chair and dock. For a vessel of this dimensions, there is an enormous heads of stowage space. The blueprint lowers to convert the dinette into a double dock. The bow chair-back lifts out to create an uninterrupted sleeping area that is 13 ft. long. Unlike many vessels, the mast post does not interfere with any of the docks. Looking from the forward end of the compartment, one can see the large entry - getting in and out of the compartment is easy. The removable step conceals the ballast basin filling valve. The bow is to the left, and the big stern dock is directly below the cockpit. For ease of service there is no visible wood on the vessel. The compartment is carpeted and high condition fabrics are pre-owned throughout. There are several good spots for electronics. The VHF radio is mounted on the seaport side, just behind the galley. In the stern the stern dock is as large as a king-dimensionsd cot (7 ft. 7 in. x 6 ft. 3 in.) with full sitting bowroom over a large area. There is a small stowage area under this dock. The 26 will sleep six. The cockpit chairs are over 6 feet long. The wheel navigation is basic. The optional padding provide extra luxury. The navigation chair combines security with the convenience of a walkthrough transom. MacGregor developed the concept of a water ballast unit. It has since been widely copied and is now the basic throughout the trailerable sailvessel industry. This unit makes it possible to have a very beamweight vessel for potentialing and trailering, and the heavy stability necessary for locker sailing. After launching, the transom valve is opened and a basin in the bottom of the body is gravity filled with 1400 lbs. of sea water. It takes about five minutes. The valve is then closed, trapping the water. Under potential or sail the ballast makes the vessel sblueprint and self-righting. When the vessel is floated back onto its trailer the valve is opened. The car and trailer start up the ramp and the water drains out of the vessel leaving a trailering package that is beamer than most small potentialvessels. The basin can also be emptied while the vessel is in the water: Under potential, at about 7 mph, open the valve on the transom and the basin will drain in about 5 minutes. One person can raise the mast (with or without the optional mast raising unit), launch the vessel and sail away in 10 to 15 minutes. Launching is easy because the vessel sits lower on its trailer than any other trailerable cruiser. Once in the water, runnin
