Exceptionally equipped and expertly spec'd for circumnavigating. Oyster Brokerage is delighted to announce the listing Oyster 575/30 Briviba. Specifically designed to allow the best of both worlds, Briviba’s centreboard lifts into a lengthened keel stub which means that she draws just 1.65m (5’5”). With the centreboard down she draws an impressive 3.82m (12’6”), greatly enhancing her upwind performance. Her twin rudders reduce her draft and also give the helmsman fingertip control even in boisterous conditions. The Oyster 575 was first launched in 2010 as a replacement for the extraordinarily successful Oyster 56, of which we launched seventy-five. This size range is so popular because it combines safe and rapid ocean sailing with comfortable live-aboard cruising, but is it also compact enough to allow easy handling by a couple without crew. Rob Humphreys made the 575 longer and more powerful than its predecessor, increasing the volume considerably, and splitting the centre cockpit to create a working cockpit aft and a safe and protected relaxing area forward. The twin wheels allow the helmsman a better view of the sails underway, and also simplify access to the dock when moored stern to. Briviba is a beautiful example of the 575, in her second ownership with light use and an ongoing extensive maintenance programme. She is resplendent with her light grey topsides, white coachroof and teak laid deck. She benefits from a fully furling hydraulic push button rig, so she is easy to handle and simplicity itself to reef, and also has a carbon bowsprit and top down gennaker furling system, and white sails by Elvstrøm to enhance her sailing performance. Below decks she sleeps seven in four cabins, without recourse to the saloon, and her interior joinery is finished in light oak with eye catching horizontal grain and an Osmo finish, giving a bright and modern feel. Her deck saloon and triple seascape windows mean she has plenty of natural light and ventilation below decks. As you might expect Briviba is fully equipped with microwave, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, upgraded bow and stern thrusters, air conditioning, watermaker, and full navigational and entertainment packages. Briviba was launched in 2015 and was originally specified for the Oyster World Rally. The owner’s plans changed, and she was sold in 2016 to the current owner. Briviba presents beautifully and represents a wonderful opportunity to purchase a lightly used 575 with lifting keel. Early viewing is highly recommended.

BRIVIBA - FULL SPECIFICATION

1. CONSTRUCTION

HULL NUMBER

HULL CONSTRUCTION
The body is a composite development, moulded using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in a white features NPG gelcoat.
Laminate material comprises a combination of E-Glass, Kevlar, and Carbon Fibre featuresly crafted for the yacht by the Oyster Design Team’s own structural engineers. This custom laminate deals significant weight savings, strength and stiffness advantages over a standard GRP development.
Topside laminate incorporates a high-tech, balsa-cored, E-glass/Carbon sandwich above the waterline, for additional strength, stiffness, and insulation. Below the waterline, the body features a monolithic (single-skin) composite laminate with an Aramid/Kevlar layer, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors.
Combined with BS1088 standard marina-ply structural bulkfronts, this produces a robust structure, with excellent strength to weight qualities and proven longevity. Additional reinforcements are included in the way of the keel recess, the keel longitudinals, mast bulkfront, P-bracket, forestay, and body stringers.
Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points. Stringers, bulkfront landings, and floors are formed over a non-structural, inert, polyurethane foam.

DECK CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP with balsa core.
The 575 deck styling has modern flowing lines providing sleek looks, interior and out, whilst maintaining the Oyster trademark and reputation for a beam and airy deck bar.

DECK FINISH
Weather deck, cockpit chairs and sole areas finished with quarter-sawn teak planking, laid using epoxy adhesive with no visible fastenings. Recessed GRP trays seaport and starboard of companionway. Teak on flat areas either side of companionway, around recessed GRP trays, under sprayhood, and on raised section of foredeck. Deck fully inspected, and teak cleaned (2022).
Fore and aft coachroof tops and cockpit coamings finished in white gelcoat, with white, non-slip deck paint applied to appropriate panels.
The deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks. The top of the bulwark has a clean GRP finish, giving a modern and stylish rolled edge, enhancing the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line.
KEEL
Super shoal gust keel with centreboard. Touch up of Coppercoat and re-coat to stub keel (2022).
The keel is a long, shallow profile GRP moulded stub with lead ballast bolted to it. Both are made with a central slot that allows the centreboard to swing up interior the lead fin and GRP stub/box. The centreboard keel is crafted to combine very shallow gust with good sailing performance.
CENTREBOARD
The centreboard plate is pivoted on a bronze pin and set into a low friction, bearing sleeve. The pivot pin may be removed for service. The pivoting board and lifting mechanism have been crafted to minimise risk of serious damage, in the event of hitting an underwater obstruction.
The centreboard plate is raised and lowered by an electrically operated water potential ram installed vertically in the engine compartment compartment. It is connected to the upper trailing edge by Vectran (or similar) line running over bronze large range sheaves. Operation of the water potential ram is by push-buttons sited at one direction pedestal. There is a ‘Board UP’/’Board DOWN’ position indicator, together with a lift mechanism fail-safe unit. Sheaves and lifting line are accessible for removal and service.
