NEW LISTING! The Oyster 54 replaced the 53 in 2008 and was designed by Rob Humphreys and the Oyster design team as a fast and elegant bluewater cruiser, with a little more emphasis on sailing
performance. The 54 has a longer waterline, more sail area, and slightly lighter displacement than her predecessor, while also carrying her beam further aft to enhance her performance.
The rig and her secure centre cockpit, which is around 25% bigger than the 53, are geared towards easy short-handed sailing for a couple. The 54 certainly delivers either as a proven circumnavigator or as a family cruiser. Below decks, she has a simple and seamanlike three-cabin layout, which is as practical as it is beautiful. Oyster launched twenty-one 54s between 2008 and 2013 when the 545 was launched.

Pearl of Persia is still in her original ownership and has taken her current owners around the world on the first Oyster World Rally in ***.***.***. She is rigged with what is perhaps the simplest Oyster rig, a sloop with electric furling to both her mainsail and genoa. The maple joinery below gives a light and open feel below. Originally specified with a circumnavigation in mind, Pearl of Persia is very well-equipped and now seeking a new owner to take her on further travels.

1. CONSTRUCTION
HULL NUMBER
Oyster 54/12A.

HULL CONSTRUCTION
The body is of composite moulded development from female tools developed by Oyster in their own facility, closely supervised by the Oyster Design Team.
Moulded using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in white gelcoat.
Laminate material comprises a combination of E-Glass, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre. This ‘custom’ laminate deals significant weight savings, strength and stiffness advantages over a standard GRP development, carbon for weight and stiffness, Kevlar for impact resistance.
The topside structure incorporates an 18mm end-grain, balsa core above the waterline for additional strength, stiffness and insulation.
Below the waterline the body special a solid laminate, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors. Combined with BS1088 standard marina-ply structural bulkbows this produces a robust structure, with excellent strength to weight qualities. Moulded GRP base units are pre-owned to mount the interior joinery and also form bow and shower room modules.

HULL FINISH
‘White’ body with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster ‘Blue.’

DECK CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP to the Oyster G5 deck bar profile type, with a balsa core for strength and insulation. In load bearing areas the core is replaced with plywood for additional strength, and all load bearing fittings have backing plates/washers.

DECK FINISH
Teak laid decks, featuring a modern rolled deck edge that enhances the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line.
The deck is bonded to the body and incorporates recessed stainless steel mooring cleats. These recesses also aide the swift draining of deck water.

KEEL
High performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.

RUDDER
Fully protected skeg-hung rudder.

STERN DESIGN
The rear design incorporates a floor instep trimmed with laid teak. This area includes a fold-down stainless steel bathing/boarding ladder with oval treads and two stainless steel steps with teak inlay for access to the rear deck. The ladder is tailored with a lanyard and retaining pin for retrieval/storage.

EURCD
Built to comply with the requirements for Category A – Ocean.
2. DECK LAYOUT AND EQUIPMENT
ANCHOR
34kg CQR mainstay that stows in the stembow fitting.
100m of 12mm calibrated galvanized chain, matched to the gustlass gypsy, and fastened at its ‘bitter end’ to a through-bolted stainless steel attachment with substantial lanyard.
Recessed safe within the foredeck for mainstay chain storage, which is tailored with hinged lids and a stainless steel clamp-type locking device.

WINDLASS
Lewmar V4 vertical capstan type (24V) electric mainstay gustlass. The gustlass is two-way and operated by adjacent foot switch controls.

Pair of midship gateway stanchions and side gates for boarding.
