Stiff, immensely strong, yet beam enough to maintain optimum performance across the full diameter of ocean cruising conditions, the Moody 54 has been crafted without compromise. The balance and potential of her underwater sections and lead keel give superb sail carrying and stability for swift passage times. This sparkling performance is complemented by her ease of handling by two people. Standard machinery includes furling for all sails, electrically potentialed primary winches and a 10hp front thruster. Her potentialful sail plan, on Selden's triple spreader rig, includes a cutter rig with a self-tacking stay sail.

Construction

Hand laid fiberglass development with isophthalic gelcoat backed by initial lay up of powder bound mat and isophthalic resin. Balsa cored sandwich development for increased panel stiffness and optimum weight distribution. Hull stiffened by bonded in bulkquantity plus frames and stringers. Underwater sections from stem to keel further stiffened by utilising an Aramid (Kevlar) laminate to increase impact resistance. Dark navy blue body in gelcoat. Boot top (white) was repainted in 2016. Transom includes hinging transom door/swimming floor. Lead shoal keel and half skeg hung rudder.
Swept teak laid ring deck plus for'd and after coachroof areas. Deck stiffened with balsa core, with plywood backing pads in way of deck fittings. Deck edge incorporates raised bulwark with teak cap rail.

Forward facing blueprint desk one step down from the bar to starboard. Ample space for electronics and electrical panels etc. Hanging safe aft of the Navigator's chair.
Aft of the hanging safe there is a single dock beside the walkway accessing the proprietor's aft compartment. Storage under the dock, access to the engine bay and opening seaporthole at the side of the coachroof.
