While most Treeve DS16 Cove Boats have a 15-15hp inboard tailored as specified by the proprietor.  They can be tailored with an outboard either transom hung or in a well depending on your preference.  The yard's engines of choice are either a Vetus or Beta Marine, however others can be specified, as most aspects of these vessels can be customised to suit individual requirements.

General Description

From the robust commercial basic fit out to the Penberth Model sporting classic joinery throughout, these vessels are individually tailored to their proprietors requirements and manufactured with ultimate seaworthiness and longevity in mind.
Treeve Cove Boats are a modern development of the traditional Cornish fishing vessel and although a compact 16ft in range have the strength and carrying seating of much larger vessels. Catches of 200 Stone (1 1/4 tonnes) on board have been recorded together with man and machinery.
Originally developed for the professional fisherman they are manufactured to specifications that exceed the scantlings laid down in the Lloyds recommendations and are almost double that of EEC requirements. These vessels have a long proven track record of hard work and safety in the heavy seas of the South West coast.
Conditions could not be tougher than at Penberth Cove near Lands End, Cornwall. Rugged seas, hard work and the need to be winched up and down the granite slipway every day and in all weathers make terrifying demands on any vessel. At Penberth the vast majority of fishermen put their trust in the Treeve Cove Boat.
In order to protect the vessel from abrasion by gravel, rocks and coral when beaching, the MK V has a number of features adaptations. A twin of heavy duty bilge keels is tailored to keep the vessel upright when beaching. These are protected by a set of galvanised irons, through-bolted with interior lugs. The sterngear and rudder are completely protected from impact and abrasion by an extra heavy duty galvanised iron, skeg and rudder shoes.
We made the decision to base our fresh 16' Treeve Cove vessel in the main on the traditions and skills of this concentrated area. The Mark I 16 was first launched onto the market in 1976/77 with an overall range of 15'9" a light of 5'9" and a draught of 1'9". This proved to be an immediate success and kept our yard very busy for the next four years when it was time to replace the original mould. This was done by modifying a Mark I with the addition of bilge galvanised flats, 16' overall range and 6' lig
