For the ancient Greeks, Venus anadiomene was Venus born from the waves of the sea. The italian poet D'Annunzio dedicated this epithet to Venice: the anadiomede city, beautiful as Venus and rising from the sea.   Evidently the first Venetian owner of this beautiful seagoing boat wanted to equate her with Venus and Venice and named her ANADIOMENE  Anadiomene was designed by Alain Buchanan (***.***.***) a renowned British naval architect and yachtsman. He designed over 2400 yachts, including yachts that won the Admiral's Cup, Cowes Week, the Fastnet and the Sidney Hobart.  Buchanan began his career as a draughtsman and aircraft engineer at the De Havilland Aircraft Company. In 1997 he received a major award from RINA  ( Italian Naval Register ) for his design of small and medium-sized boats built in Italy. Buchanan's cruising boats are famous for their seaworthiness, excellent hulls, interior roominess and optimisation of volumes and spaces.   Anadiomene was built by Cantiere Craglietto in 1967 in Trieste.  Like his father and grandfather, Mariano Craglietto was considered an excellence in shipbuilding.
