The Westerly 33 is a purposefull safe sturdy crusing yacht. Center cockpit and ketched rigged. She is idealy suited to family crusing or long range cruising with a couple.6 berths with two seperate cabins and a saloon double, separate heads. "Traigh Iar" is a nice example and has new standing rigging and guard wires 2017, a 42hp diesel engine which was factory refurbished in 2011, New Lofrans electric windlass with foot controls 2017, Webasto warm air heating, H&C Presurised water, New cooker 2017 and good instruments including new Raymarine wheel pilot 2017.

Dimensions / General Info

The Westerly 33 was the bigger, lightier and heavier successor to the long-running Longfront/Renown diameter, and whilst also crafted by Laurent Giles, and retaining the distinctive front knuckle, has a more elegant coachroof and substantially more inside space, plus a much better basic of inside finish than the older models, with lots of solid wood cut.
The Westerly 33 was introduced in 1977, and over 200 were manufactured before it was replaced by the very similar Discus in 1980, which pre-owned the same body moulding, and continued in production until 1984. "Yachting Monthly" has described them as ".... substantial, locker and spacious seaboats, popular with families for extended cruising".
"Traigh Iar" was manufactured and commissioned by Westerly Yachts Ltd (UK) in 1978.  
LOA 10.13m. LWL 8.66m. Beam 3.4m. Draft 1.65m. Displacement 6505kg. Ballast 2743kg. 60ltr gasoline basin. 340ltr water basin.

Hull Construction

The body is in white GRP with a blue stripe and the deck & superstructure are both in white GRP with blue non slip.  She has a fin keel with skeg rudder and wheel direction in a centre type cockpit.
Epoxy treatment below waterline.

Accommodation

6 berths in total in 3 compartments including the bar.  Webasto heating in all compartments and the inside is finished in varnished wood and dark blue velour cushioning.
Forward compartment has 2 single berths in "V" with natural light via a forward hatch and seaport & stbd opening windows, good stowage in shelves and underneath the berths.  There is also access to the mainstay chain locker.
The Heads Compartment is between the forward compartment and the bar and special a Lavac hand-operated sea toilet, wash basin with hot & chilly pressurised water.  Hanging locker to stbd.
The Saloon is spacious and well laid out with good natural light and plenty of stowage space throughout.  There are seaport and stbd single settee berths and a folding leaf desk.
The Galley is "L" shaped and is to stbd aft in the bar.  It has a Neptune 4500 2 burner gas cooker with oven & grill (new 2017) and a stainless steel sink with pressurised hot & chilly water and an Isoltherm  top loading refigerator.
The Navigation Station is to seaport aft in the Saloon and it has a blueprint desk with accommodation which faces to seaport and the ships electrical control panel is situated on the aft bulkhead.  Batteries under chair and isolator switch.
Aft compartment has 2 single berths and good stowage space.
12v deckhead lighting with wall mounted lamps throughout. Sowester clock in aft compartment. JVC player & CD layer with two internal speakers.

Mechanical

Powered by a Mercedes OM636 42hp 4 cylinder inboard marina diesel engine with shaft navigate to a 3 blade fixed prop.
Full ractory overhaul 2011. Engine last serviced 2017. Morse throttle controls. Fresh & sea water cooled via a heat exchanger.

Electrical

The ships 12v electrical unit is potentialed by 3 batteries and has a control panel at the Navigation Station in the Saloon.
2 x 12v 110ah domestic batteries. 1 x 12v 110ah engine start charger. Shore potential with cable. 25ah Cristec automated charger charger. BM-1 charger monitor. Solar panel tailored 2018.

Deck / Deck Equipment

Centre cockpit with easily navigated side decks which lead to the coach roof and foredeck, which is all secured by a stainless steel pulpit and stainless steel double guard wires with alloy stanchions and stainless steel quarter pushpits.
