Cruisers are sailing yachts designed for long voyages and for this reason, they have large and spacious cabins for maximum comfort on board and a high freeboard to ensure a higher level of safety. The more modern versions are equipped with internal and external cabinets and cubbyholes to store food, clothing and all kinds of equipment. They provide a simple, dry and comfortable navigation, especially in windy conditions. Unlike regatta sailing boats, they sacrifice part of their speed for greater strength, stability and resistance, they have a more affordable price and are easier to handle, even by a small crew.

Cruisers usually have the bathroom, kitchen and a small table below deck. Most of these boats have heating and air conditioning, an electric generator and boiler. Generally, they have the same equipment as larger yachts, but come at a lower price. Additionally, they don't require a team of professional skippers on board to be taken out to sea. Normally, in addition to the sails, they also have a motor for when there is no wind.
